WHEN DO I HAVE TO RENEW?

All current SORA license holders can renew their certification up to 90 days BEFORE the expiration date. Renewing early will not change or affect your 1 year armed or 2 year unarmed Sora License. Licenses must be renewed BEFORE the expiration date.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CERTIFICATION EXPIRES?

If you failed to register and complete the recertification process before your expiration date you must complete the original process all over again.

HOW DO I RENEW MY CERTIFICATION?

To renew, you must log into your NJ State Police account (click here) . Click on “Renewal Applicant” > “My Applications” > “Security Officer” > “Submit Renewal.” Please note that you must have your credit card ready to pay for the renewal because the website will log you out if it takes too long.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

It is $80.87 to renew with the NJSP, PLUS the cost of the one day mandatory recertification class.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO BRING TO THE RENEWAL CLASS ? Most classes Virtual & Some Inperson

All students must bring their original SORA ID card, a government issued photo ID, and a screenshot or print out from the NJSP website which includes their renewal ID number.
